In 2004, we sent a chair to Paris. Marcel and I have corresponded ever since. Leslie and I went to France, to meet him and visit the country . . . the amazingly beautiful country. In the photo below to the left, taken in the Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, Marcel makes the point that life will overcome death. In the photo to the right, he and Leslie are crossing the moat of a medieval castle.
In the Louvre, we saw a chair and other wooden items made in Ancient Egypt. The descriptive plaque says the chair was made about 3300 years ago of wood, paint, and inlay. The leather seat is “modern;” the original would have been rope or cord. Our trade is an old one.
